Compare text files with Beyond Compare

If you have two text files that are similar but perhaps not identical, going through them to search for differences is a tiring and time-consuming task.  If the text files are longer than a couple of paragraphs, comparing them can even be near impossible.  Luckily, Beyond Compare is an excellent tool for text file comparison - it is quick, easy to use, and the results are completely reliable.

Text file comparison can be done using the built-in side-by-side file viewer, which also uses color coding to highlight differences.  You also have a choice of several filters to search for particular differences between the text files, and set it to show just matches or just mismatches.  Beyond Compare is well suited to comparing text files of different origins, because it can be set to ignore minor differences such as upper and lower case and whitespace.
