Additional File Viewer Rules for Beyond Compare 2
BC version 2 only
As of version 2.1, Beyond Compare users can share File Viewer Rules by exporting and importing them. Here are some File Viewer Rules that you may find useful. If you develop others, let us know and we will list them here.
A registered version of Beyond Compare is not required to use these rules.
Simple Importable Rules
To import one of these xml Rules files:
- Run Beyond Compare's Folder Viewer and select Tools > Import Settings.
- In Select import file, enter the name of the rules file you downloaded and click Next.
- Verify that the new rule(s) are checked in the Pick rules to import list and click Next, then Finish.
This rule is useful for comparing .clw, .inc, .tpl, and .tpw Clarion source and templates.

This rule is useful for comparing .cbl, .cpy, and .cob Cobol source files.
This rule is useful for sorting the lines within a file in alphabetical order before comparing them.
There are no default file types associated with it.
Rules That Use External Conversion
These rules run external conversions when loading and/or saving. They pre-format text files or generate temporary text files from binary file formats. Each includes a Readme with installation instructions.
HTML-To-Text strips tags from .html files to produce plain text.
HTML Tidy reformats the lines of .html files in a consistent style.
XML Tidy does the same for .xml files.
